If you are considering a VAP+ or other tests from VAP Diagnostics Lab, you may have questions about how the tests are reimbursed. We at VAP Diagnostics Laboratory realize billing for medical services is complex. We strive to assist you in understanding the billing process and have provided information on commonly asked questions below. If you have additional questions, our professional billing team is available to assist you at 866.377.4266.
Does VAP Diagnostics accept my insurance?
VAP Diagnostics Lab accepts all insurance and is in-network with certain major insurance companies. We encourage you to check with your insurance provider to verify in-network benefits are available for our testing services.
VAP Diagnostics Lab will first file a claim with your insurance company using information we receive from your physician’s office . After insurance processes the claim, most insurance carriers will send you a detailed description of the charges billed to them and the amount they paid on those charges. This document is often called a Claim Summary or Explanation of Benefits (EOB). The EOB typically lists a “Balance Due,” which is what the insurance company estimates you will owe after their payments. The EOB is NOT A BILL, and no money is due at the time you receive it. VAP Diagnostics will send you a separate invoice for any amounts due such as co-pays, deductibles, or non-covered services.
What if my testing services were billed with incorrect insurance information?
We submit claims to insurance providers based on information we receive from your physician’s office. Sometimes this information is incorrect. We encourage you to make sure your physician has correct, updated insurance information to provide to us, as well as your current address, birthdate, and other contact information. If you receive an invoice for testing services and you believe a claim was not first submitted to your insurance company, please contact our billing department with the correct insurance information as of the date of service, and we will file a claim.
What if I have Medicare and government insurance?
Most of our tests are covered by traditional Medicare and government insurance. Medicare fee-for-service patients will not be billed by VAP Diagnostics Lab; however, other government plans may be subject to co-pays and deductibles.
What if I don’t have insurance?
In the event you do not have insurance or do not wish to submit an insurance claim, VAP Diagnostics Lab has established affordable pricing to ensure broad access to our test offering. For more information call us at 866.377.4266.
What if I need assistance paying my bill?
If you are unable to pay your bill in full, VAP Diagnostics offers interest free payment plans to allow you to pay your bill in monthly installments. Please contact our billing department at 866.377.4266 to discuss the availability of a payment plan.
VAP Diagnostics desires to make its testing accessible to people of all income levels and has established an economic hardship policy that allows for individuals of low income to qualify for assistance through the form of discounts. Please download and complete this form. Submit the completed form with the requested proof of income to our billing team to review and determine eligibility for assistance based on U.S. Department of Health and Human Service poverty guidelines.
What if I receive a check from my insurance company for my lab tests?
Most insurance companies directly pay laboratories for services provided to their participants; however certain out-of-network insurance companies may send a check to the patient. If you receive a check from your insurance company for our services, it is important that you sign the back of the check and write “Pay to VAP Diagnostics Laboratory”, then forward the check along with the Explanation of Benefits to the address below:
